Love Music Hate Racism will once again host a major session at our joint national conference with Unite Against Fascism. The conference will bring together the musicians and music fans from across the country who have been active in the our campaigns over the last year. Delegates and guests are encouraged share experiences of the past twelve months with new members and followers who want to get involved in this vital year for the anti-fascist movement.
The event will bring together sections of society that oppose fascism including trade unions, Muslim, Jewish, Christian and other faiths, black, Asian, lesbian, gay and disabled communities and will allow us to come together to discuss strategies that have been successful in defeating racism and fascism and organise activity across the country. There will be a number of workshops and debates, including a major session to organise this year’s Love Music Hate Racism Carnivals taking place in London and Manchester.
We can now announce our exciting list of speakers for the Love Music Hate Racism session.
They include:
Riz Ahmed, aka Riz MC – musician who came to prominence with anti-Islamophobia track “911 Blues” and is probably the UK’s best-known British Muslim actor, starring in films like Road to Guantanamo, Shifty and new Chris Morris satire “Four Lions”.
Jerry Dammers of the Specials – LMHR’s veteran anti-fascist and anti-apartheid campaigner was on the protest outside BBC Question Time last autumn, brilliantly putting the boot into Nick Griffin on live tv.
Itch Fox from King Blues – the UK’s most prominent and popular radical punk-rock band.
Kid British Multi-cultural Manchester pop band who’ve played gigs for LMHR around the world from Stoke to Budapest!
